ABOUT
History of Solomon Hess
Solomon Hess Capital Management was founded in 2004 by William Einstein and Gino Heilizer with a mission to provide domestic banks, insurance companies and individual investors with access to investments in small business loans made in conjunction with the SBA 7(a) program where the borrower is located in a distressed community or employs low- or moderate- income persons. Solomon Hess continued its growth by deploying a $50 million allocation of New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) into several small business oriented NMTC-eligible community development projects. Additionally, Solomon Hess has established and closed multiple private investment funds which invested in small business related debt offerings utilizing an absolute return strategy.
Solomon Hess was Gino Heilizer’s grandfather. He owned a small garment factory in Berlin that the Nazis confiscated from him immediately after Kristallnacht. Mr. Hess soon fled to Holland where he and his daughter spent the War years in hiding. Mr. Hess immigrated to the United States in 1947. Our firm is named in his honor.
Gino Heilizer was a founding partner of Solomon Hess Capital Management. Previously he was a Vice President of New Business Development with Meridian Investments. He held a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northwestern University and a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Mr. Heilizer passed away on April 19, 2019.
